FROM SMALL LABEL TO MAJOR BRAND – THE GERMAN FASHION COMPANY RICH & ROYAL CONTINUES TO GROW

The German fashion company Rich & Royal looks back on an exciting and successful period. The brand is now one of the fasting growing in Germany and is sold in over 22 countries.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

The story of the company behind the name Rich & Royal began in 1986 with the founding of Peter Stupp Design Mode GmbH by the businessman Peter Stupp. In keeping with family expectations, his two sons Denis and Patrick Stupp took over the company in 2002. Four years after joining the family business, they saw a gap in the market for high-quality, rock 'n' roll-oriented fashion and set up the Rich & Royal brand in 2006. The owners were inspired to use this name by the American rock band "Rich & Royal", who they had seen while staying in New York.

THE COLLECTION

The collection comprises a women's collection (Queens Collection) that is designed by a six-strong creative team at headquarters. Inspired by the latest trends emerging from the fashion world, the talented designers combine this input with their own creative ideas and in so doing create the unique individual design typical of the Rich & Royal collections.

During development of the collection, particular importance is attached to the high quality of the materials and their perfect fit. Every year there is a total of four discerning high fashion collections, comprising jeans, jeggings and chinos, dresses, knitwear, leather jackets, blazers, outdoor jackets and coats, T-shirts and tank tops, sweatshirts, shirts and blouses, that are delivered to the retail market on five different dates.

Since autumn 2010 there has also been an accessories collection comprising bags, belts, bracelets, necklaces, brooches and gloves that complement the main collections perfectly.

Rich & Royal also reacts to the latest trends with seasonal flash programmes. In this way the company illustrates once again its feel for the latest styles in the fashion world.

The lavish, high-quality collections are produced almost exclusively in Europe. Italy and Portugal are the main production countries. Only outerwear and leather items are manufactured in Turkey and the Far East.

The competitive environment includes such labels as Patrizia Pepe, 7 for all mankind, Boss Orange, Closed, Diesel, G-Star, Replay, Pepe and Drykorn.

HEADQUARTERS

The Rich & Royal brand was registered with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office in Munich on 23.10.2006. Since then the company's headquarters has been located in the town of Freiberg am Neckar, near Stuttgart.

Back in 2006, the two brothers began their career with one designer and eight agents. Today, the company has a total of 70 employees and approx. 30 sales agents all over the world and the company's headquarters has expanded in size from 500 m² to 1,500 m².

SALES

The collections are sold in fashion stores and prominent department stores. In total, there are over 1,000 points of sale in Europe and five additional dealer-operated mono-brand stores located in Gera, in Leobersdorf near Vienna and in the three Russian cities of Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg and Samara.

The internationalisation of the brand is also being pursued on an ongoing basis. Alongside Germany, the label is sold in Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Norway, China and Australia. The fashion company's current export share is around 40%.

Due to the strong development of the brand, in 2014 Rich & Royal launched its own stores and also an online store.

MANAGEMENT

The management of this family-run company is shared equally by the brothers Patrick and Denis Stupp. Patrick Stupp is responsible for the creative side of the company, runs the Design and Production Departments and keeps an eye on the key accounts. Denis Stupp is responsible for the commercial side and is in charge of the Finance, Marketing, Customer Management and Sales Departments.

Patrick Stupp's CV:

Patrick Stupp graduated from LDT Nagold in 1999 as a womenswear and menswear business administration specialist before studying marketing in New York between 1999 and 2000. After a foray into brand management for Boss Orange, he joined the family business in 2002.

Denis Stupp's CV:

Denis Stupp studied business administration between 1998 and 2001 in Heidelberg, and after receiving his diploma he broadened his training by studying to become a menswear business administration specialist at LDT Nagold. He acquired vocational experience in international sales at Hugo Boss AG in Metzingen before also joining the family business.

Marketing

Since July 2009, Rich & Royal has been a regular exhibitor at the Bread & Butter trade fair in Berlin. As the brand has grown, the size of its trade fair stand has also grown steadily to reach its current dimensions of around 150 m².

In Holland and Russia, Rich & Royal is represented at the important industry trade fairs Modefabriek und CPM (Collection Première Moscow). This year, Rich & Royal also exhibited its new collection for the first time at CIFF in Copenhagen. An exhibit at Who’s Next in Paris is planned.

Along with its presence at trade fairs, the company attaches equal importance to the professional and high-quality production of its image campaigns. The results are presented to end customers in advertisements featured in high-end fashion magazines such as Vogue and Instyle.
